What is the European Mental Health Week?

The European Mental Health Week, run by Europe’s largest independent mental health NGO Mental Health Europe (MHE), aims to raise awareness about the importance of mental health in our everyday lives.

Under this year’s theme (2023), Mentally Healthy Communities, the week seeks to “increase understanding and learning about mental health in our communities, schools, workplaces and at home so that everyone can thrive and flourish at every stage of life”.

More and more projects are implemented and policy makers are pushed to promote art and culture to increase the well being in our modern society.

A word from the gallery

Georgia is presenting a series of acrylic paintings and drawings representing Women through ages, across borders and along their path.

This series is not about one type of Woman, but about how different and special a Woman can be. This is about diversity and tolerance, acceptance and love.

She introduces shapes and shades that embellish the Woman and her body. Revealing the Woman, naked, sensitive, without artifice, natural and strong.

The passion and love that Georgia transfer into her artworks create a whirlwind of emotions

Tips to feel better

  • Lack of focus, you mind is striving to keep focus on one single thing at a time ?

  • You feel stress and anxiety, you are permanently nervous and you don't know how to release from your stress ?

Artistic creation can help you to feel better with some troubles you may be facing. Note that:

You should always start a drawing or a painting with a simple objective, painting a canvas in blue is a good first objective. You will have the feeling to finish something, and blue is a color that is relaxing and peaceful.

Don't impose you rules, restrictions or constraints. If you want to make it during 15 minutes or 2 hours, this is how you feel.

If you do not know where to start here some steps you may follow:

  1. Choose up to 3 colors (pencils, painting this is up to you)

  2. Take the first color and start making squares and rectangles (you can make it freely or with a ruler)

  3. Take second colors and make circles, the circles can touch the other forms, they can inside, outside.

  4. With the third color you can fill in the blanks, maybe just some, maybe all. This is how you feel

  5. If you like it you can reuse the color you prefer to add up more, you can let it as is

  6. If you don't like it, it's okay, let it dry a bit. And paint over it with one color: white, ochre, blue (not dark blue), orange

Bravo, you have created your first piece ! This is how you can create, just let it go ...

Enjoy the freedom that creation can offer you !
